How to Plan Bathroom Fixtures & Plumbing Walls in AutoCAD + Free Blocks
08/01/2026Best Practices for Kids Room Layouts in AutoCAD + (Free DWG Download)
Kids’ rooms require specialized furniture like cribs, changing tables, and bunk beds. These items have unique dimensions that standard bedroom blocks don’t cover. Planning for play space vs. sleep space is the main challenge in these smaller rooms.
Safety is also a design factor; furniture placement must account for window locations (to avoid climbing hazards) and clear floor space for play. Using accurate blocks for these specific furniture items ensures you don’t overstuff the room.
Technical Guide: Best Practices for Kids Furniture
Focus on safety and flexibility:
- Crib Placement: When placing a Crib block, ensure it is not positioned directly under a window. Use the block to test different wall locations. Standard crib mattress size is 28″ x 52″.
- Vertical Clearance: When using Bunk Bed blocks, check the ceiling height in your section view. You need at least 30-36 inches of clearance above the top mattress.
For guidelines on child safety in home design, refer to the CPSC Crib Safety Guide.
